Yesterday: U.S. indexes finished mixed Tuesday, with the Dow jumping more than 500 points as easing oil prices, strong earnings, and sector rotation lifted sentiment. Meanwhile, chip and memory stocks remained under pressure, with Semiconductor ETFs falling for the fourth straight session as Micron, Sandisk, and AMD plunged. This was an extension of South Korea’s selloff with its index (Kospi) falling more than 10%. The rotation out of chip stocks pushed health care and financials to record highs while the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund fell to its lowest level since early May. Meanwhile, oil slipped below $80 per barrel as optimism grew that a ceasefire could be worked out in the middle east.
On Our Radar: Looking ahead, Wall Street will be paying attention to today’s FOMC interest-rate decision, as well as the press conference from recently appointed Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh. On the earnings front, all eyes will be on Microsoft
(MSFT), and Meta (META) which will report after the market close today.
